Hello, Sunshine. I know your life is hectic, your stress builds, your guilt over many things heightens, and things can get catastrophic at the drop of a hat. But, among all the hacking away, you've got this. You are important and unique, and it's time to be the light of your own life. Luckily, 're-wilding' yourself may be just the boost you've been looking for all this time!
Try to be a rainbow in someone else's clouds.
Nature can generate many positive emotions, such as calmness, joy, and creativity and can facilitate concentration and re-jig the body's internal clock and circadian rhythm. Nature connectedness reveals that we are so small but big, significant but insignificant, and is associated with restorative powers. It lowers levels of poor mental health, notably lower depression and anxiety.
It comforts us and calms our nervous system.
Being outside renews our spirits, encouraging us to look beyond our immediate circumstances. It also allows us to process complicated feelings in a judgment-free zone, playing a significant role in emotional regulation. Quite simply, nature is restorative and regenerative.
RE-WILDING: you are wild, don't let them tame you!
MAKE YOUR BODY DANCE: improves the condition of your heart and lungs, increases your muscular strength, and builds endurance and motor fitness.
SUNSHINE ON YOUR MIND: be your own sun by day and star by night! Keep your face toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.
BIRTHDAY SUIT CELEBRATION: It's your natural state, the freedom of all humans. We were all born that way. It lets your skin and pubic area breathe freely. It gives you body confidence and teaches you to love your body.
EARTHING TREES AND GRASS: fostering connection, grounding and stimulation. Walking barefoot on grass increases your body's endorphins (feel-good hormones). Studies show that 30 minutes of grounding barefoot can heal pain, reduce inflammation and improve sleep quality. The absorption of negative ions helps counteract these free radicals and detoxify the body. The influx of negative ions into our system also helps to shift our autonomic nervous system out of 'fight or flight' mode and back into the more 'relaxed' state.
TECH FREE TIME: tech has taken over our lives; we are all doing less and relying on technology more than ever. So, we are unplugging: I feel clearer mentally and happier emotionally when I set screen time limits. By disconnecting, we give our brains a chance to rest and recharge, which can lead to greater creativity and productivity.
NOTICING: It's the little details that are vital. Hear the sounds, see the animals around you, listen to life. Practice mindfulness by broadening your mind in tiny minutes and moments, shimmering your body, wiggling and giggling, and feeling the breath and the breezes.
ACTUALLY, YOU CAN: Try making your own natural products to get back to using natural remedies. It's not always easy, but it can be super simple if you do it right. Get something happening right now; I guarantee you'll love it. Make some cheese, infuse some oil, make some lip balm, ferment some veg, natural scents and remedies - LOST REMEDIES are super vogue right now. Ancient remedies are a celebration of ancestral wisdom and the healing power of plants. Weave together themes of tradition, sustainability, and self-sufficiency for yourself, encouraging and cultivating a deeper understanding of herbal medicine.
Turmeric for pain and inflammation. Who hasn't heard of turmeric by now?
Chilli peppers and capsaicin oils for pain and soreness.
Ginger for pain and nausea.
Fenugreek for breastfeeding and hormone regulation, menopause, and weight loss.
Rosemary oil for hair growth, regrowth, thickening, and reducing hair loss.
To Make Homemade Rosemary Oil:
Making rosemary oil for hair involves gently heating de-stemmed rosemary leaves with a carrier oil and antioxidant, then allowing the mixture to infuse for a couple of weeks. This method yields a potent, fragrant, vibrant golden oil imbued with rosemary's antioxidants and other beneficial compounds.
Method:
Warm your carrier oil slightly in a double boiler.
Once the oil is warm, remove it from heat, add your fresh rosemary leaves (de-stemmed) and let the mixture infuse for an hour. Turn off the heat and leave to steep. Extract all leaf matter.
Stir well to combine.
Allow the mixture to cool before transferring it to an airtight bottle or jar for storage.
Or use Rosemary essential oil:
Mix about five drops of rosemary essential oil with a teaspoon of carrier oil (like jojoba or coconut oil). Then, massage it evenly into your scalp after a bath or shower. Rinsing out the oil afterwards is optional, though if you do rinse, let the oil sit on your scalp for at least 5 to 10 minutes beforehand.
I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself - It's a good day to have a good day.
